New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday issued a fresh call to its supporters, asking them to assemble at 9 am on Saturday for the widely-publicised protest planned in the national Capital.

Urging people to swarm the streets of Delhi with “peaceful and loving dissent” and turn a “tiny joke into a revolution”, the Cockroach party vowed to get Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign following irregularities in national level exams.

The latest call to its supporters came with an alert — to remember what to do and what not to do – because “all eyes are on us.”

“6 June, 9 am – Milte hain kal fellow cockroaches. 6 June, 9 am – Milte hain kal fellow cockroaches 🪳 Dharmendra Pradhan ka isteefa le kar rahenge! Time to turn this tiny joke into a revolution. Get ready to swarm the streets of Delhi with peaceful and loving dissent. But remember what to do and what NOT to do. All eyes are on us!” read the post on the X handle of Cockroach is Back.

The plan is to move to Jantar Mantar after CJP funder Abhijeet Dipke lands in Delhi from the US on Saturday morning.

The members of CJP, however, made it clear at a press conference two days ago that they won’t seek permission for the Jantar Mantar protest, which is mandatory as reminded by Delhi Police.’

CJP spokespersons have said they will march towards Jantar Mantar even if they are not granted police permission.

Instructions for supporters

The CJP issued a set of instructions for its supporters, stressing that they must maintain discipline and ensure a peaceful demonstration.

Encouraging participants to carry the National Flag and a book, the spokespersons underlined that the protest is meant to uphold the principles of education and equal opportunity.

“We encourage everyone to carry the national flag and a book since we are promoting and upholding the right to education and equal opportunity,” it said.

Supporters were also advised to document the event responsibly and report any suspicious or disruptive behaviour to the police.

CJP leaders didn’t forget to caution participants about the weather, and asked them to stay hydrated and prioritise health and safety during the protest.

“Most importantly, we urge everyone not to engage with trolls, provocateurs, or anyone attempting to derail the movement. Our strength lies in peaceful, democratic action,” CJP spelt out.

Delhi HC refuses hear petition urgently

In a significant development, the Delhi High Court on Friday refused urgent hearing of a petition seeking directions to the police to deploy crowd control measures at all entry corridors in view of the proposed protest by the satirical outfit.

The petition, filed by Save India Foundation, was mentioned before a vacation bench of justices Saurabh Banerjee and Amit Sharma.

The lawyer representing the NGO urged the court to hear the petition on Friday, but was met with a refusal.
