Amritsar-Vishakhapatnam Express Stranded Due To Power Failure
Dhenkanal: Passengers of Amritsar-Vishakhapatnam Express train were stranded near Shyamacharanpur railway station in Odisha’s Dhenkanal following power failure in the engine on Tuesday morning.
The train later left for its destination with another engine.
Talking to mediapersons, Permanent Way Inspector (PWI) of East Coast Railway (ECoR) AK Saxena said the train was moving fast on the track which was being repaired by the railway staff. As soon as the engine driver was informed about it, he applied brakes to slow it down. But the engine could not pull the train due to a sudden power failure.
“As it had rained in the night, there was an excess moisture on the track. As a result, the power of the engine failed and the wheel slipped a bit when the driver tried to accelerate,” he added.
Following information, an engine from Dhenkanal railway station was sent to the spot and it drove the train to its destination.
Train traffic on the route was restored after 15 minutes, railway officials said.
