Keonjhar: A body of a newborn baby girl was found dumped inside a toilet at sub-divisional hospital at Anandapur in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Sunday.
According to sources, a nurse found the newborn in the toilet pan in the female ward of the hospital around 9 am and informed the authorities. Attended of patients in the ward said that they had seen a woman seen entering the restroom area around 5 am and hurriedly leaving the ward. It is suspected that she might have delivered or brought the baby there before abandoning it. While the hospital campus is equipped with CCTV cameras, there are none in the immediate vicinity of the female ward’s toilet area due to privacy reasons.
On being informed, Ghasipura Police arrived at the hospital and seized the newborn’s body for postmortem. All entry and exit footage from the early morning hours are being scanned to identify the woman and anyone who accompanied her. Superintendent of the hospital Krishna Chandra Das said that they are cooperating fully with the police.
