Chariots Of Sibling Deities Reach Puri Jagannath Temple In Bahuda Yatra
Puri: The chariots carrying sibling deities – Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra – reached the Lords’ abode during Bahuda Yatra (return car festival) in Odisha’s Puri town on Saturday evening.
The Bahuda Yatra began in the morning with ‘Pahandi Bije’ (grand procession) of the Lords from Gundicha temple where they had gone in their annual sojourn during Rath Yatra on July 1. After staying there for 8 days, the deities were brought in their respective chariots pulled by the devotees to Jagannath temple.
Lord Balabhadra was the first to reach the temple, followed by sister Devi Subhadra. Lord Jagannath was the last to arrive in front of the temple.
The three deities will spend the night on the chariots where all the rituals will be performed. They will appear in ‘Sunabesha’ (gold attire) for darshan of the devotees on Sunday.
As per schedule, the ‘Aadhar Pana’ (a special drink) ritual will be performed on Monday and the deities will enter Jagannath temple in ‘Niladri Bije’ which will mark the end of Rath Yatra on Tuesday.
