New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke arrived in Delhi early on Saturday as authorities tightened security across the capital ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar. Increased checks and deployments were seen at the airport, city entry points, railway stations and other sensitive areas.

Soon after landing, Dipke posted on X urging peaceful participation. “Landed. Looking forward to meet you all at Jantar Mantar. Do not forget to carry a book and our Tiranga! Offer flowers to policemen as a gesture of compassion & gratitude. We have to lead this movement with love and peace!” he wrote.

Presenting the protest as student-focused, Dipke linked it to controversies around NEET, CUET, CBSE and SSC GD, saying repeated disruptions and alleged administrative lapses have left millions of students uncertain and need accountability, as reported by MoneyControl.

He asked supporters not to gather at Indira Gandhi International Airport, saying the response to his call had been overwhelming and could hinder passengers and security. “The overwhelming response from those who want the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan to our call to join us at Delhi Airport was beyond our imagination. It is not feasible for so many people to assemble at the airport as it would cause inconvenience to the public and the security forces. So please do not come to Delhi airport,” he said in a video on X.

Dipke said he would first seek permission at Parliament Street Police Station for the Jantar Mantar protest. “I will be going to the Parliament Street Police Station to seek permission directly for our peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar. We are law-abiding citizens and have to act responsibly. So please be mindful that nobody should create any kind of disturbance,” he said, and urged discipline to keep the protest non-violent.

Highlighting the scale of affected students, he said: “Today, NEET’s 22 lakh students, CBSE’s 17 lakh students, CUET’s 16 lakh students and SSC GD’s 40 lakh students — more than one crore students whose lives have been mocked by the system. Because of this, students are very anxious and worried about their future. Someone has to take responsibility for this.”

Dipke has called for the education minister to be held accountable and said his family warned him about possible legal consequences, but he remained committed to lawful protest.

The CJP named Saurav Das, Vijeta Dahiya and Ashutosh Ranka as official spokespeople ahead of the demonstration.

Delhi Police increased deployments citywide in response, sending extra personnel to the airport, major stations, bus terminals and border points. Officials said over 1,000 officers were earmarked for New Delhi district and other key areas, vehicle checks intensified on routes to central Delhi, and multiple barricades were set up near the airport.

Senior police officers reviewed the situation and instructed units to remain alert, keep reserves ready and coordinate with intelligence agencies to assess risks while minimising commuter disruption.

Police said no formal protest permission had been filed by Friday, but precautions were taken after monitoring social media and other intelligence.

The Cockroach Janta Party began as a satirical reply to remarks reportedly made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant in a court hearing last month, when certain people were allegedly called “cockroaches” and “parasites”. The online campaign has since evolved into an organised movement with a large social media presence.
