Elon Musk’s SpaceX To Launch Four Rockets In 48 Hours
Bhubaneswar: Elon Musk’s SpaceX is set to launch four rockets, including its massive Starship Super Heavy vehicle, into space in 48 hours.
This mega launch programme shows the growing dominance of Space X in the commercial space industry.
The schedule will include sixth test flight of the 400-feet tall Starship Super Heavy rocket from SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas, on Tuesday.
This test flight intends to send the Starship to suborbital trajectory and catch the returning Super Heavy rocket midair with robotic arms.
SpaceX plans to make use of its specialised tower, dubbed ‘Mechazilla,’ to catch the returning Starship.
This innovative recovery method is important for SpaceX’s goal of achieving “rapid re-flight capabilities, allowing for launches within 30 minutes after recovery.”
SpaceX began its launch marathon this week by sending 20 Starlink satellites to space from Florida’s Kennedy Space Centre.
The marathon will come to a close with two Falcon 9 rockets lifting off from different coasts — one from Cape Canaveral (Florida) and another from California.
