Doha: At least 13 people lost their lives and 66 others were injured in the massive explosion that rocked the massive Ras Laffan liquefied natural (LNG) gas complex on Sunday night, Qatar’s Energy minister informed.
Among those killed were Indians and Pakistanis, though no further details are available yet.
“I find myself today having to do something I have always hoped will never happen, and that is to announce the tragic loss of 13 lives of our people who hold Indian and Pakistani nationalities,” Qatari minister Saad al-Kaabi told reporters on Monday.
“Sixty-six people have been injured and are receiving medical treatment, none of whom is in life-threatening condition,” al-Kaabi added.
