Bhubaneswar: Ananya Awasthi, a 2022-batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Governor, making her the first woman to serve in the prestigious position.
A formal induction ceremony was held at Lok Bhavan on Sunday, where Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati welcomed Awasthi to her new assignment as the Police ADC. Senior officials of the Governor’s Secretariat were present on the occasion.
“As Odisha’s first woman ADC to the Governor, her appointment marks a historic milestone in women’s leadership and empowerment,” the official handle of Governor Odisha posted on X.
Prior to this role, Awasthi served as the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Cuttack. She succeeds IPS officer Kuldeep Meena.
The ADC is responsible for assisting the Governor during official engagements, ceremonial functions, and other protocol-related duties. The Governor’s office is assisted by two ADCs—one from the Indian Armed Forces and one from the state police.
