Joint Squad Clears Encroachments Along NH-203 Bypass
Bhubaneswar: A joint squad of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Commissionerate police on Wednesday removed 108 temporary structures between Saptasati Temple and Hi-Tech Square near GGP Colony here.
The eviction drive, which is being carried out in three phases, aims at decongesting NH-203 bypass in view of the upcoming Rath Yatra.
The entire stretch, covering Mancheswar, Laxmisagar, Saheed Nagar and Dhauli police limits, witnesses heavy traffic from Cuttack and the encroachments along the busy road add to the problem of the commuters.
It may be mentioned here that the original NH-203 passed through the city between Rasulgarh Square and Samantarapur. Due to the congestion, the NHAI authorities proposed the bypass and the new road was built between Pandara and Lingipur. The project too was delayed during the construction phase due to encroachment-related issues.
