Nuapada: A man, who was undergoing treatment at Nuapada district headquarters hospital, died on Wednesday morning. The deceased, identified as Bhagat Bihari (35), had sustained serious injuries during a chain snatching bid near Birumala village in the district the previous night.
According to reports, Bhagat and his wife Sabita were waylaid by miscreants while returning from a Durga Puja pandal near their house. They tried to snatch a gold chain from Sabita and when Bhagat resisted, they attacked him with sharp weapons and made away with the chain.

Bhagat, who was rushed to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition, later succumbed to his injuries, reports added.
