Naveen Patnaik Congratulates Odisha People As President Droupadi Murmu Assumes Office
New Delhi: After attending the swearing-in ceremony of Droupadi Murmu as the 15th President of India, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said that he was absolutely delighted and honoured with a woman from Odisha holding the highest office in the country.
“I would also like to congratulate the people of Odisha since a woman from the state is now the President of India,” he said.
Naveen also told the media that she used to tie Rakhi to him.

Murmu was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of India N V Ramana at an impressive ceremony in the packed and historic Central Hall of Parliament at 10.15 am in the presence of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union ministers, governors, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and a host of dignitaries.

She was dressed in a white saree with a green and red border.
Reciting famous lines of eminent poet Bhima Bhoi, the President in her address said, “I have realised the meaning of life only through public service. There is a line from the poem of Bhim Bhoi Ji, a famous poet of Shri Jagannath Kshetra-“Mo Jibana Pachhe Narke Padithau, Jagata Uddhara Heu”. That is, working for the welfare of the world is far greater than one’s own interests,” she added.

The Odisha Assembly will also pass a resolution, congratulating Murmu for assuming the top constitutional position. She was a former member of the state assembly.
Naveen, who is on a four-visit to the national capital, will return to Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
