No Flood Casualty In Odisha’s Malkangiri: Collector

Malkangiri: Despite heavy flooding in Malkangiri, there has been no casualty in the district so far, Collector Manish Agarwal said on Sunday.

“Though there has been incessant rain in the district for the past five days, there has been no report of any casualty. The district administration is keeping a close watch on the flood situation,” he added.

Talking about the damage, the collector said that road communication in the district has been severely affected due to the floodwaters. Besides, more than 100 people were stranded in some villages. Arrangements were being made to shift them to safer places and provide them with food, he added.

Also, some kutcha houses in Chitrakonda and Kalimela blocks were damaged.

On the loss of crops, Agarwal said that paddy fields in 34 villages were inundated following a breach in an MIP check dam.

He said that a detailed assessment of damage in the district will be taken up after the recession of floodwaters.
