Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi ordered a thorough probe into many errors detected in textbooks for Classes I to VIII, the state government on Thursday announced the formation of a three-member committee to conduct the investigation.
Following detection of errors by teachers in government-run schools, the Chief Minister on Wednesday directed immediate corrective measures and formation of a high-level committee to fix responsibility.
Acting on his instructions, the government formed a three-member high-level committee to investigate the issue.
Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh will head the committee. Culture Department Secretary Bijay Ketan Upadhyay and General Administration Department Deputy Secretary Smita Pani will serve as members of the committee.
The committee will examine how the printing errors occurred, identify the responsible officials or agencies, and submit its report within seven days.
Officials said the inquiry will determine accountability and recommend measures to prevent such lapses in future publications.
The Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure over the mistakes, which have affected students’ learning across the state. He reviewed the matter at a key meeting and instructed officials to correct the errors immediately and take strict action against those involved.
