Bhubaneswar: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has picked Odisha medium-pacer Rajesh Mohanty as one of its net bowlers for IPL-14, which commences on April 9.
A full-time trainee at MRF Pace Foundation, Rajesh showed a lot of promise at the junior level and quickly graduated to the Odisha senior team, making his Ranji Trophy debut in November 2018, at the tender age of 18.
Being a regular at the Chennai-based MRF Pace Foundation, Nayagarh-born Rajesh impressed CSK spotters and got a call from the MS Dhoni-led two-time IPL champions.
Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) president Pankaj Lochan Mohanty and secretary Sanjay Behera wished Rajesh a great future.
They said it’s an opportunity for the young Odisha pacer to improve his skill level as he will gain valuable experience bowling to some of the established players in the CSK squad.
The 20-year-old Rajesh has played 17 first-class matches and bagged 72 wickets at an impressive average of 20.26.
He has also featured in 15 List A and 14 T20 games, capturing 7 and 8 wickets, respectively.
