Bhubaneswar: A four-member delegation of BJD on Wednesday moved the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar, alleging that BJP Lok Sabha candidate, Baijayant Panda had violated the model code of conduct by using helicopters, which did not have commercial charter, for the election campaign.
“Panda has been using helicopters owned by IMFA for his election campaign. However, these helicopters do not have commercial charter, mandated as per Election Commission guidelines,” the delegation said.
As per the mandate, a candidate is required to furnish the expenditure on hiring a helicopter in his or her poll expenditure statement, the members further said.
The delegation requested the CEO to look into the matter and take strong action against Baijayant as well as IMFA for Election Commission guidelines violation.
