Bhubaneswar: Senior officials of Khurda Railway Division-led by Additional DRM inspected the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express via Sambalpur city-Rourkela route before departure on its regular run from Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
This followed the inaugural run of Bhubaneswar-New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express with Tejas rake from Bhubaneswar railway station, which was flagged off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on August 14.
According to East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources, only one Tejas rake has been attached to this Bhubaneswar-Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express, which runs via Sambalpur city once a week on Saturdays. It leave Bhubaneswar at 7.15 am and has stoppages at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, Anara, Gomoh, Gaya, Prayagraj and Kanpur Central before reaching New Delhi the following morning at 9.55 am.
With this, the number of such premium train with advance rakes has gone up to five. The first Rajdhani train upgraded with Tejas rake was introduced in July 2021 on the Delhi-Mumbai route. The others are Agartala-Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express , Mumbai-Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani and Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express.
The sources added that the other two Delhi-bound Rajdhani trains from Bhubaneswar that runs via Adra and Tata will soon have Tejas rakes, which are being introduced in long-distance journey to better the travel experience of passengers with enhanced comfort.
