Tehran: US President Donald Trump’s assertions about a looming agreement with Iran are “a mix of truth and lies” and bear no resemblance to the actual draft under consideration in Tehran, according to IRGC-linked Fars News, which cited informed sources.
According to the report, the draft agreement — built on a “commitment for commitment” framework — is nearing final approval in Iran, but a conclusive decision remains pending.
Fars said Trump has proclaimed victory by putting forward points that run counter to the draft’s actual wording, even as he promises the US blockade will be lifted.
Hormuz, Nuclear Claims Called Baseless
The report said Iran did not agree to reopen the Strait of Hormuz without tolls or conditions, because that clause is not in the draft. Tehran will reopen the strait only after the blockade is lifted, and it will do so on its own terms, which may include monitoring, inspections, services and security measures.
Fars also turned down Trump’s claim that Iran would take apart or destroy its nuclear material, saying informed sources called the claim groundless and confirmed it is not in the memorandum,
as reported by Iran International.
The report highlighted that the draft’s top priority is the immediate release of $12 billion in Iran’s frozen assets, stressing that Tehran will not proceed to any further negotiation stage until the funds are unlocked.
It also identified a full ceasefire in Lebanon — aligned with Hezbollah’s demands — as another critical condition.
Fars stated Iran will advance to the next phase of negotiations, which includes sanctions relief and discussions on its nuclear programme, only if these prerequisites are settled. Any final deal, it emphasized, will be grounded in the Islamic Republic’s red lines and reflect its “complete distrust” of the United States.
