Educational Testing Service (ETS), which conducts the popular Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam, on Wednesday announced the launch of an app to help candidates prepare better and get the results within six days.
Students who will take a TOEFL test on or after October 26 will be able to view their scores online within six days after the test date instead of 10 days. Official score reports will also be sent to institutions faster, said an official release.
“The TOEFL app meets students where they are by providing them with a convenient and streamlined way to access many components of the test experience on their mobile devices, from registration and test preparation through score delivery,” Executive Director of the TOEFL Programme Srikant Gopal said.
The release said the TOEFL app will offer features similar to students’ online accounts, including:
- Test registration – search for “test centres near me” and find open seats in a two-month period.
- Test preparation – purchase comprehensive guides and link to free practice material, including practice test and TOEFL insider’s Guide online course
- Scores – view score reports from all valid test administrations and send additional score reports to designated institutions.
- Disability accommodation – submit requests for disability or health-related needs accommodations and view the status of current and past requests.
The TOEFL app will be available on the android and apple stores.
TOEFL, is an English test held world-wide, the scores of which are accepted by more than 10,000 institutes in over 150 countries.
In August, TOEFL underwent a few changes, which included shortening the duration of the test by 30 minutes. The number of questions in the reading, listening and speaking sections was also reduced.
In May, ETS had announced the introduction of a ‘my best score feature,’ which took a candidate’s best scores from each section of the previous two years.
