Washington DC: Trust Donald Trump to shoot off on Truth Social or during media interactions about stuff which raise more questions than they answer issues.
In his latest ‘claim’ which has puzzled everyone, the US President has alleged that an Iranian drone attack targeted Indian ships exiting the Strait of Hormuz, and called it “totally unacceptable”.
What actually happened recently was that three ships carrying Indian sailors were attacked in four days off the Omani coast, but none of those vessels was Indian-flagged.
Not only that, the US CENTCOM acknowledged firing missiles on those ships. In one of those attacks, on Wednesday, three Indian sailors were killed.
And, India summoned American envoys in New Delhi – not once, but twice — to register its strong protest over the US attacks on oil tankers carrying Indian seafarers.
However, Trump has posted, Iran’s “totally rebuffed Drone attack last night against Indian Ships leaving the Hormuz Strait is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.”
No one can make out which “drone attack” on “Indian ships” is Trump talking about.
Trump also attacked Iran for spreading “fake news” about a possible peace agreement with the US, saying Tehran’s statements on the agreement were “dishonourable” and they were acting in bad faith.
Here’s the full text of Trump’s Friday post on Truth Social:
“The terms that Iran leaked out to the Fake News have NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to, in writing. What they said, including their weak and pathetic statement on having a deal, bears no relation to the truth. Very dishonorable people to deal with. With them, there is no such thing as dealing in good faith. AMAZING! Also, their totally rebuffed Drone attack last night against Indian Ships leaving the Hormuz Strait is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. They better get their act together, and FAST.”
What should anyone make of this, given what has actually transpired over the last week especially concerning Indian sailors?
