Bhubaneswar: In a big announcement on Thursday Union Minister of Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi said a world class aluminium park will be set up at Angul near the smelter plant by National Aluminium Company (NALCO) in association with Odisha Government.
Speaking at the 41st NALCO Foundation Day function here, the Union Minister emphasised on sustainable and environment-friendly mining. He said the Centre is keen to optimally use natural resources for the welfare and development of the state.
Joshi said the aluminium park will encourage development of downstream and ancillary industries in the state and also enhance employment opportunities in the area besides giving a boost to local entrepreneurship.
“We are regularly holding brainstorming sessions with stakeholders to provide new direction to the Odisha Mining Ecosystem,” he added.
Speaking about achieving exponential growth and expansion, he said NALCO will invest Rs 30,000 crores by 2027-28 on expansion and diversification plans.
The Minister also tweeted: It is a matter of pride that @NALCO_India is one of the highest net foreign exchange earning CPSE in the country. The company’s aggressive expansion plan will have a multiplier effect on the mining and mineral sector, helping achieve the vision of an #AatmaNirbharBharat.
The Union Minister planted a sapling at NALCO Research and Technology Centre in the state capital.
