Koraput: As the COVID-19 pandemic raged, schools closed and classes went online, 36-year-old Jyoshnarani Padhi of Pujariput village in Odisha’s Koraput district watched her son attend online classes from home.
Encouraged by her son’s online classes, Jyoshnarani, who had dropped out of Class IX in 2002 because of family problems, too felt she could complete her education by studying from home. She resumed her studies in right earnest.
Now, Jyoshnarani is appearing in the Matric exams along with her son Aloknath.
Her husband Trinath Prasad Patra, whom she married in 2006, was very supportive when she expressed her desire to resume studies. “Seeing her keenness to study, I enrolled her in a correspondence course of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha,” Patra was quoted as saying.
“I am very proud that my mother is appearing for the Matric exams along with me. I hope that she completes her graduation eventually,” her son Aloknath said.
While he is appearing for the exams at the village high school, his mother is appearing for the exams at the high school in Jeypore, 20 km from her village.
