Insecticidal Nets To Be Distributed in Odisha’s Sundargarh From Dec 28
Sundargarh: The district administration will distribute insecticidal nets or medicated nets as a preventive measure against malaria from December 28. It was decided at a meeting, held under the chairmanship of Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan on Tuesday.
In the first phase, the mosquito nets, provided by the Health department, will be distributed in six areas including Rourkela Municipality Corporation, Biramitrapur, Bonai Sadar, Hatibari, Kuanramunda and Laing. The first phase distribution will continue upto January 2.
In the second phase to start from January 4, the nets will be distributed in other areas of the district. It was decided at the meeting that the distribution work will be completed in three weeks.
While 13,64,727 mosquito nets will be provided to the beneficiaries, about 11 lakh nets have been procured till now. The district administration, which has identified 2,579 places to supply the nets, will deploy more than 13,000 Asha and Anganwadi workers in the work.
Three types of mosquito nets will be provided for different categories of beneficiaries. Single mosquito net will be distributed among youths, Divyangs, widows and elderly persons. Double net will be provided to each couple with a child under five year and family size net to the couple having child above five years or two children.
Awareness will be created in those areas to use the mosquito nets properly.
According to sources, 1,501 malaria positive cases have been recorded in the district till November this year with no death due to the disease.
