Puri: A married couple was found hanging inside a locked house at a village in Satasankha area of Odisha’s Puri district on Tuesday.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place at Arjunsinghpur village under Satasankha police outpost area.
The deceased have been identified as Bhaskar Chandra Das and his wife. Neighbours said that the couple’s house was found closed since morning. After repeated calls went unanswered, locals became apprehensive and informed the Satasankha police outpost.
On being informed, a police team visited the spot and entered the house by breaking the door. The team found the couple hanging inside. Their bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.
A scientific team also examined the site and recovered a suicide note from the house. The note has been seized and is being examined by investigators. Police are verifying whether it provides any clues about the circumstances that led to the death of the couple.
Sources said Bhaskar was working as a security guard at a mattress factory. Preliminary investigations suggest that family-related issues may have led to the incident.
Police said they are examining all aspects of the case, including recording statements from family members and others familiar with the couple.
