Bhubaneswar: Passengers aboard Tapaswini Express (Puri-Hatia) experienced a brief delay on Monday evening after railway staff discovered an uncoupled link between coaches during a scheduled halt in Bhubaneswar.
The train arrived at Bhubaneswar railway station at 9:31 pm on June 1. During the stop, personnel noticed that the coupling between the 2nd and 3rd coaches from the locomotive side had uncoupled. Railway staff immediately attended to the matter, conducting necessary safety inspections before re-coupling the coaches. The train was able to depart safely at 10:28 pm, after the issue was resolved by around 10:20 pm.
No injuries or damage to passengers or property were reported, and the incident caused only a short disruption to the schedule.
This clarification from railway authorities came after reports that a passenger train unexpectedly decoupled into two sections during its journey, causing alarm among passengers. The locomotive and the first few coaches continued to move ahead, while the remaining coaches halted near Malisahi. The issue only became apparent once the front section reached the vicinity of Mancheswar railway station. Passengers left in the detached rear coaches grew increasingly anxious after the sudden, engine-less stop. Railway officials quickly arrived at the scene to evaluate the situation. The locomotive and forward coaches were reversed and reattached to the stranded section, allowing the train to be reassembled and resume its journey around 10:20 pm.
