Missing Cuttack Businessman Traced To Amritsar
Cuttack: A businessman from Cuttack who was last spotted at Puri railway station around a month ago, was finally traced to Amritsar in Punjab, brought back to Cuttack and safely reunited with his family.
CID-Crime Branch traced the missing businessman on Tuesday. Vishal Sundarka was last seen in Puri railway station’s CCTV camera footage at 10.45pm on March 5. His car had been found in Puri earlier that day. Vishal had not taken his cellphones with him.
A missing entry was made at the Cuttack UPD Markagnagar Police Station on March 6, on the basis of a written complaint by Santosh Sundarka of CDA, Cuttack, who said his younger brother and businessman, Vishal, was missing.
It was suspected that Vishal had been abducted for ransom. The family even received some ransom calls from cellphones based abroad.
The alleged abductors demanded a huge sum of money from Vishal’s family for his safe return.
The matter was referred to CID-Crime Branch last week after which a team was formed to trace Vishal. After going through available inputs, video footage and technical evidence, the team began working on some important clues.
On the basis of these clues a three-member team led by inspector Akshay Nayak of the CID-Crime Branch proceeded to Punjab and finally traced Vishal in Amritsar. He has since been brought back and reunited with his family.
It now emerges that Vishal had neither been abducted, nor was it a case of business rivalry. He had left home on his own. Some mischievous elements had tried to take advantage of the situation and demanded a huge ransom.
Investigations are still on.
