Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a state-level preparatory meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan to review the arrangements for the forthcoming visit of the Hon’ble Vice President of India to Odisha on July 9.
The meeting took stock of preparations by various departments to ensure a smooth visit.
Detailed discussions were held on protocol, security, traffic management, transportation, medical preparedness, civic amenities, and other logistical arrangements at all programme venues.
During his official visit, the Vice-President will attend the national launch programme of ‘Letter of Authorisation’ to Indian-flagged vessels for fishing in the high seas. Radhakrishnan will also grace the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Khordha, as chief guest and deliver the convocation address.
The Chief Secretary directed all departments to ensure timely completion of their assigned responsibilities and maintain close inter-departmental coordination.
Garg also stressed on the need for foolproof security arrangements, uninterrupted power and water supply, fire safety measures, sanitation, road maintenance, medical facilities, ambulance services and seamless protocol arrangements for the entire duration of the visit.
Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary to Home, Industries and Information & Public Relations department; Odisha DGP YB Khurania; N Thirumala Naik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School & Mass Education department; NBS Rajput, Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport department attended the meeting along with senior officers of various departments.
