Odisha Elections: In Yet Another Change, Congress Replaces Digapahandi Assembly Candidate

Bhubaneswar: Announcing yet another replacement of nominee for the upcoming elections in Odisha, Congress changed its candidate for Digapahandi Assembly seat in the state.

The grand old party on announced Saka Sujit Kumar as its nominee for Digapahandi seat in Ganjam district for Assembly polls in the state.

Congress had earlier announced Shreedhar Dev as its candidate for Digapahandi constituency.

“This is for the information of general public that official candidate of INC from (134) Digapahandi Assembly seat is Saka Sujit Kumar,” said the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) in post on X.

It may be noted here the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has nominated Biplab Patro, son of late leader Surjya Narayan Patro, as its candidate from Digapahandi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given ticket to Odia film actor Siddhant Mohapatra from the seat.

Notably, Congress had earlier changed its candidates in three Assembly seats in Odisha. Former Indian hockey captain Prabodh Tirkey was also dropped as its nominee for Talasara constituency and replaced him with Debendra Bhitaria.

Apart from Prabodh, Congress has changed its candidates in two other Assembly constituencies. While Surada Pradhan has been replaced with Upendra Pradhan in Baliguda Assembly seat, Chiranjib Bosoi has been replaced with Bipin Bihari Swain in Kabusuryanagar constituency.
