Odisha Girl Also A WEF-Recognised ‘Global Shaper’, Wins Prestigious London Scholarship

Bhubaneswar: Svetlana Mahapatra, a 28-year-old city-based researcher, model and social media influencer, has been awarded the prestigious Royal Society of the Arts (RSA), London, fellowship. Mahapatra, who also works as a tech consultant in a multinational company, will join an elite community of 30,000 innovators, including Tim Berners-Lee and Dame Judi Dench honoured by the RSA since 1754. She also holds an MBA degree from XIMB and a BTech from IIIT-Bhubaneswar.

The fellowship is given to activists, artists, writers, journalists and politicians for exceptional achievements in advancing social progress and development.

“It is a great honour to join the RSA, a community that has a community that has historically been at the forefront of significant societal advancement,” Mahapatra was quoted as saying by Times of India.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) in Geneva recognised her as a global shaper by The World Economic Forum (WEF) in Geneva. The WEF Global Shapers Community is a network of young leaders distinguishe by their achievements

She has authored a research paper on ‘detection procedures for digital mammograms’, which used advanced imaging techniques to offer tech-based alternatives for detecting breast cancer and other anomalies. Professors in global universities have cited the paper over 200 times.

 

Mahapatra has also demonstrated her talent at prestigious events such as the IIFA Fashion Awards (2023) and International Fashion Week (2022).
