Pvt School In Bhubaneswar Locks Up Kids Over Fees: NHRC Seeks Report
Bhubaneswar: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought an action taken report over the alleged detention of students by a private school in Ghatikia in Bhubaneswar for non-payment of outstanding fees.
According to sources, the commission has asked the Khurda Collector, Principal Secretary of School & Mass Education Department and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner to submit the report within one month.
A total of 34 students of Class III, IV and V were allegedly locked up for five hours. They were not allowed to have a tiffin break or go to the washroom. They were also not provided with water as well.
The parents and guardians also moved the Child Protection Committee in connection with the incident.
