‘Medical Negligence’ Cry After Patient’s Death In Capital Hospital-Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Tension flared up at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar after the death of a patient due to alleged administration of wrong injection.

According to sources, the deceased, identified as Dusasana Sahu of Dhauli Kumaradiha, was admitted to the hospital after he complained of chest pain. Suspecting it to be a case of acidity, the doctor administered two injections to him and advised his attendant to him back home. However, Dusasana’s condition deteriorated while he was being taken home. He was rushed back to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The family suspects medical negligence since the doctors treating him hid the prescription. “The doctor, who was treating Dusasana, had left the hospital when we brought him back after he fell unconscious on the way back home. The new doctor took the prescription from me after declaring him dead,” said the complainant.

Capital Hospital director Lakhmidhar Sahu said that the patient was checked by three doctors and his ECG report was normal. “While his family members wanted to get him admitted to the hospital, one of the doctors advised them to take him home. I have asked the hospital Superintendent to look into their complaint. Stringent action will be taken against the doctor who advised the patient’s family to take him home,” he added.
