Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for seven districts of Odisha, including Cuttack, Puri and Khurda, till around 8 pm on Friday.
Moderate thunderstorms, rain, lightning with surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph may occur at isolated places in Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Puri, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur in the next 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Today’s Forecast
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may occur at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack. Similar weather conditions with wind speed of 40-50 kmph may also prevail in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Puri, Khurda and Nayagarh.
Heavy rainfall is also likely in Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam with the arrival of southwest monsoon in the state.
