Mumbai: The much-awaited teaser of female led spy-thriller ‘Alpha’, headlined by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday.
However, a section of social media users found the teaser underwhelming, with some claiming that advertisements for Thums Up and Mountain Dew were more engaging than the film’s first glimpse.
Several fans also expressed disappointment over Sharvari’s absence from the teaser.
In the teaser, Bobby Deol’s character is seen grooming his daughter, played by Alia, to become a spy. As she turns 18, he presents her with a chilling birthday gift, i.e her first target.
While Anil Kapoor and Sharvari also play important roles in the film, neither of them was seen in the teaser.
A Redditor wrote, “Where’s sharvari? Is she just not in the teaser lmao what the hell🥹🥹.”
Another fan posted, “No Sharvari.. and the teaser is dominated by Bobby Deol.. and we call this female centric movie?”
One commented, “What”s with Bobby’s expressions? Why is his face so stiff?”
Another remarked, “Actions scenes look like a joke, giving parody vibe. Also Bobby can neither given expressions nor do Haryanvi accent, sounds fake af.”
“Bobby Deol can’t act. No wonder he was mute in animal,” shared one.
One commented, “This is genuinely soo bad, thumb ups aur mountain dew ke ads isse zyada ache hote hai (Ads of Mountain Dew and Thums Up are better than this).”
One wrote, “Lol is this for real! Such bad editing, I thought its fan made. Dialogue delivery is so bad.”
Another commented, “Bathtub scene copy of Angeline jolie wanted movie.”
“Dangal meets Black Widow,” one posted.
Meanwhile, a section of users praised Alia’s action-packed avatar in the teaser, writing, “Alpha Teaser is a decent teaser without telling much , i hope this time film is not filled with over the top VFX and action , the story should be better thats all . Alia Bhatt is looking good in action choreography , well designed.”
“This is a banger honestly 🔥” wrote another.
Another commented, “Alpha looks more grounded and realistic than the usual Spyverse fare.”
Directed by Shiv Rawail and bankrolled by Aditya Chopra’s YRF, ‘Alpha’ is slated to hit theatres on July 3.
