Naveen Inaugurates 400-Bed Hostel Of Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College in Cuttack
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurated a new hostel of Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College in Cuttack city.
Inaugurating the hostel on virtual mode, the chief minister paid his tributes to Shailabala Das, the daughter of Madhusudan Das, freedom fighter and one of the architects for unification of Odisha. “At a time when the women were marginalised in the society, Shailabala played a significant role for upliftment and empowerment of the women,” he said.
“Due to visionary leadership of Odisha’s women leaders, they have scaled new heights in all spheres of life at present. From education to research, sports, art and culture, science and technology, trade and commerce and industries, women have found a niche for themselves,” he added.
Advising the students of the college to strive to achieve their dreams in life, Naveen said, “Have faith in your talent and capabilities. You have the ability to change your own life and the future of our nation. Dream big and work hard to realise it.”
The new hostel, built with a cost of Rs 10 crore, have the facility to accommodate 400 boarders. The chief minister also laid foundation stone for a multi-storey building at the college for administrative and academic purposes with a budget of Rs 35 crore.
Naveen said the state government will take all steps to make the college as one of the glorious educational institutions in the country.
