Bhubaneswar: Senior Deputy Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar Bharati is set to begin a two-day visit to Odisha on Tuesday to assess the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across the state.

According to the official schedule, Bharati will hold detailed discussions with district collectors and electoral registration officers from all districts to evaluate current progress and issue necessary instructions to ensure timely completion of the revision. On June 17, the senior official will visit Ganjam district to review ground-level implementation and interact with local election officials.

Progress in Form Distribution and Digitisation

Notably, enumeration forms for SIR of electoral rolls have reached nearly 99% of voters across Odisha.  As of June 14 evening, forms had been distributed to over 3.30 crore voters, achieving 98.95% coverage. By 6 pm on June 15, this figure rose to 3,31,13,184 voters, or 99.14 per cent statewide.

Digitisation has also advanced significantly. 42.86% of the forms, covering 1,43,16,029 voters, have so far been digitised. The tribal-dominated Sundargarh district is leading the initiative, having successfully reached every eligible voter with forms and digitised 62.71% of the collected data. “The administration has been successful in reaching the counting forms to every eligible voter in district. Sundargarh is also leading in digitising collected data. To date, digitisation of 62.71 per cent of forms has been completed in Sundargarh district,” the CEO said.

Once digitisation concludes, names of deceased persons and migrated voters will be deleted, paving the way for the publication of a final, error-free electoral roll. The entire process is being carried out in mission mode as directed by the Election Commission of India to ensure greater transparency and accuracy.

CM Sets Example by Filing Enumeration Form

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi personally participated in the SIR campaign at his native Raikala village in Keonjhar district by filling out his own enumeration form.

In a post on X, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, highlighted the CM’s involvement, noting that his participation sends a strong message to encourage widespread public cooperation in building a transparent and updated electoral roll. “During the ongoing SIR-2026 campaign at Raikala village in Keonjhar district, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated in the exercise by filling up his own Enumeration Form. By personally taking part in the process, he conveyed a strong message encouraging public participation in the preparation of an accurate, transparent, and updated electoral roll.”

In a statement, Majhi stressed the need for a flawless voters’ list and urged citizens to fully support district administrations and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the door-to-door verification process.
