Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a one-day visit to Odisha on June 20 to participate in the second-anniversary celebrations of the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi-led BJP government in the state.

President Droupadi Murmu will also join the celebrations in her home district of Mayurbhanj, making it a historic landmark event where both the Head of State and the Prime Minister will share a public stage in Rairangpur.

PM’s Itinerary

According to the detailed schedule released by BJP general secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathy, Pm Modi will arrive at Pahadpur helipad in Mayurbhanj at 11:05 am. His first stop will be the prominent local shrine, Gosani Peetha, to offer prayers at around 11:15 am. The Prime Minister will spend over an hour in the Pahadpur area, which includes a personal visit to the in-laws’ home of President Murmu to interact with her family and local villagers.

The Prime Minister will then proceed to Dandbose, near Rairangpur, the designated venue for the state-level anniversary event and massive public rally, scheduled to begin at 12:55 pm.

Slew of Mega Infrastructure Projects

During the visit, PM Modi is likely to launch, inaugurate, and lay foundation stones for mega-development projects worth several thousand crores of rupees.

Rameshwar-Paradip Coastal Highway: The PM will launch the recently Union Cabinet-approved Rs 8,300 crore project aimed at enhancing coastal connectivity and boosting trade logistics.

Capital Region Ring Road: Foundation stones will be laid for the 111-km Capital Region Ring Road stretching from Rameshwar to Tangi.

Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER): This massive blueprint prepared by NITI Aayog envisages over 80 structural projects across downstream metals, biotechnology, IT, chemicals, and textiles, alongside 30 policy initiatives aimed at triggering major regional investments and job creation.

Mayurbhanj’s Ambitious Transformation Plan

With just over a year left in President Murmu’s current tenure, the state and central governments are aggressively rolling out nearly 40 developmental projects across healthcare, education, tourism, and connectivity sectors in Mayurbhanj, aiming to bridge longstanding gaps in the historically underdeveloped tribal region, the TNIE reported.

The core marquee projects include:

Education Hub: Administrative nods and capital grants have been cleared to establish an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Rairangpur, a second campus of the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) sprawling across 135 acres in Kusumi, and proposals for a Tribal/Central University.

Healthcare Boost: A 25-acre land parcel has been identified at Nuagaon for a Satellite Centre of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, awaiting a final tripartite agreement. Additionally, an Rs 85.68-crore Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital has been proposed.

Cultural & Environmental Preservation: The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is expected to clear a Rs 27-crore Tribal Research Institute at Rairangpur. Simultaneously, the state is making a proactive push for a UNESCO World Heritage Site status for the Similipal National Park, planning upgrades on the lines of the Jim Corbett National Park.

Civil Aviation & Railways: The Ministry of Civil Aviation has earmarked Rs 45 crore for flight operations connecting Rairangpur and Rourkela once the Dandbose airstrip goes operational. Three critical railway lines—Badampahar-Keonjhar, Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani, and Buramura-Chakulia—are also proposed.
